The Business Systems Analyst (Power BI) will be responsible for translating insurance-specific requirements into data-driven reporting and analytics solutions. Key responsibilities include gathering reporting and data analysis needs from business stakeholders across insurance functions, writing and optimizing SQL queries, collaborating with BI developers on Power BI reports, providing business insights, documenting data sources, validating data, and participating in UAT cycles. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on skills in Power BI, SQL/Snowflake, and proven domain expertise in insurance. They will act as a key liaison between business teams and data/BI engineers, ensuring data accuracy and facilitating informed decision-making within the insurance sector.

Must have:

10+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst in insurance.
Strong hands-on experience with SQL and Snowflake.
Basic working knowledge of Power BI DAX and data modeling.
Solid understanding of insurance data.

Good to have:

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools.
Exposure to data visualization and dashboard usability.
Insurance certifications (e.g., CPCU, AINS).

Business Systems Analyst (Power BI)

We are looking for an experienced Business Systems Analyst with strong hands-on skills in Power BI, SQL/Snowflake, a basic understanding of Power BI DAX, and proven domain expertise in insurance. The ideal candidate will act as a key liaison between business teams and data/BI engineers, translating insurance-specific requirements into data-driven reporting and analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Engage with business stakeholders (Digital / Agile Program Managers, business teams) across insurance functions (e.g., claims, policy, underwriting, reinsurance) to gather reporting and data analysis requirements.
Write and optimize complex SQL queries to analyze data within Snowflake and support report development.
Collaborate with BI developers to design and validate Power BI reports and dashboards.
Provide business insights and data analysis to support decision-making and performance tracking.
Document data sources, logic, and report specifications clearly for technical and business teams.
Validate and test data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
Participate in UAT cycles, identify data issues, and coordinate resolutions.
Act as a subject matter expert for insurance-related data and processes.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems / Computer Science, Business, Insurance, or related field.
10+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst in the insurance industry.
Strong hands-on experience with SQL and working with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses.
Basic working knowledge of Power BI DAX, data modeling (not expected to develop complex dashboards).
Solid understanding of insurance data (e.g., claims, policy, customer, premium).
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
