Job Summary

Job Description

The Data Modeler will design and implement data models to support data-driven initiatives, working with data architects, analysts, and stakeholders. They will translate data requirements into logical and physical data models, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency while maintaining documentation and metadata. This role involves cloud-based technologies, including microservice architecture, near real-time message processing, and SQL/NoSQL databases. The candidate will be responsible for designing database structures, defining data structures and relationships within databases and data pipelines. The candidate will be able to create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models using relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases. They must also have experience with data warehousing and ETL processes, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze data requirements. The candidate must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and documentation skills and knowledge of industry best practices for data modeling and database design.
Must have:
  • 10+ Years experience as a Data Modeler.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret business requirements and design effective data models.
  • In-depth knowledge of database technologies (relational, dimensional, and NoSQL).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues.
  • Experience with data modeling of relational and NoSQL databases.

Our challenge

We are seeking a Data Modeler; the ideal candidate will play a key role in designing and implementing data models that support our organization's data-driven initiatives. As a Data Modeler, candidate will work closely with our data architects, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate them into logical and physical data models. Candidate will also be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of our data models, as well as maintaining their documentation and metadata. Candidate will work with cloud-based technologies which include microservice architecture, near real-time message processing, SQL and NoSQL databases. Candidate expertise in data modeling tools and techniques, as well as the ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders, will be critical to the success of our projects. Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within New York, NY is $120k - $150k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts.

  • Experience in designing and implementing database structures.

  • Ability to create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models using relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases.

  • Experience in defining data structures and relationships within databases and data pipelines.

  • Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes.

  • Understanding microservice architecture and messaging data processing.

  • Ability to maintain and manage metadata to facilitate data understanding and governance.

  • Knowledge of industry best practices for data modeling and database design.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze data requirements.

  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization of database queries.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Requirements:

  • 10+ Years experience as a Data Modeler.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to interpret business requirements and design effective data models.

  • Database Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of database technologies (relational, dimensional, and NoSQL).

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues.

  • Experience: Must have experience with data modeling of relational and NoSQL databases. Work experience with Json, XML, Avro data formats, microservice architecture and message processing.
