The Freelance Associate Creative Director will be responsible for creating compelling stories for trailers and promotional materials within the gaming industry. This role involves working directly with clients, incorporating their feedback, and guiding the creative direction of assets. Responsibilities include overseeing creative strategy, leading projects through all phases, collaborating with various teams (capture, editing, etc.), crafting scenes and scripts, and ensuring the final product meets the creative director's approval. The candidate must have strong game capture and editing experience.
Must have:
  • 3+ years in Production or Creative Directing
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Premiere
  • Knowledge of video games and a passion for them
  • Hands-on experience in creative content creation
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience in game capture and editing.
Good to have:
  • Creative vendor or studio experience

Job Details

Dark Burn Creative, a division of Trailer Park Group (TPG), is one of gaming's most prominent and growing entertainment marketing agencies. We specialize in global content creation, trailers/promotions, and gameplay capture. We combine our creative storytelling expertise with large-scale production resources, uniquely positioning us to create, market, and distribute gaming content for our diverse client portfolio of top gaming development companies and major brands. We are seeking a talented Associate Creative Director for our gaming marketing agency, Dark Burn Creative. This role will work within video games to help create compelling stories for our trailers and coming attractions work. Our Associate Creative Director works directly with the client to steer the creative direction of an asset, combining the client's notes, management’s notes, and their notes when permitted.   

IMPORTANT CALL-OUTS!

- This role is 100% on-site at our Woodland Hills location.
- All freelance talent is paid via W2 payroll.
- ASAP start through approximately 6 months (end date depends on multiple factors, including freelancer work product, client need shifts, etc.)
- Candidates MUST have game capture and strong editing experience.  This is an absolute requirement. WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Works on complex issues where creative challenges require technical, creative, and franchise knowledge.
  • Oversee the creative direction and strategy for all client projects.
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and creative approaches for obtaining results.
  • Ability to lead a trailer/creative asset to a presentable state for the creative director's approval.
  • Collaborate directly with capture teams to create and iterate on shots. 
  • Craft scenes and scripts to inform game capture and editorial process.
  • Networks with internal and external leaders in their field of expertise.
  • Able to generate or help drive another CD’s vision for an asset, leading it through all phases from scripting/concepting, preproduction, production, and post production to successful completion. 
  • Competent working with writers, motion graphics artists, editors, capture teams, sound, and finishing.
ABOUT YOU
  • 3+ years in Production or Creative Directing, with at least 3 years of experience at a Post-Production House, ad agency, or equivalent.
  • Creative vendor or studio experience preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite + working knowledge of Premiere is required.
  • Knowledge of video games and a genuine passion for playing them.
  • Hands-on experience crafting creative content, including scripting, editorial, and capture.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Comfortable in a constantly evolving industry
  • Openness to constructive criticism and willingness to engage in several rounds of feedback.
