Summary

As a Google Cloud Architect, you will design, build, and implement cloud-native and hybrid solutions. You'll work with a team to create scalable, reliable, and efficient systems handling billions of requests daily. Strong understanding of distributed systems, networking, and security, along with Google Cloud Platform expertise is crucial. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive analysis, designing scalable solutions, ensuring reliability and resilience, selecting appropriate cloud services, architecting for security, and managing cloud migrations. You will also implement security controls, ensure compliance, monitor for threats, conduct security assessments, design integration solutions, and manage performance monitoring and optimization. Effective communication and collaboration are essential.
Must have:
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native and hybrid solutions
  • Proficiency in GCP services (Compute Engine, App Engine, etc.)
  • Expertise in IaC tools (Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps
  • Google Professional Cloud Architect certification (preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Project description

As a Google Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for designing, building, and Implementing cloud-native and hybrid solutions that power our products and services.

You will work with a team of engineers to create scalable, reliable, and efficient systems that can handle billions of requests per day.

You will need to have a strong understanding of distributed systems, networking, and security. You will also need to be familiar with Google’s cloud platform and products.

In addition to your technical skills, you will also need to be able to communicate effectively with other teams in order to coordinate efforts and ensure that everyone is on the same page.

6. Cloud migration

a. Develop migration strategies: Cloud Architects create detailed plans for migrating applications, data, and infrastructure from on-premises environments to the cloud, considering factors like workload dependencies, data sensitivity, and business priorities.

b. Assess readiness and dependencies: They thoroughly assess existing systems and applications to identify dependencies, compatibility issues, and cloud migration challenges.

c. Execute migration activities: Cloud architects coordinate migration activities, including data transfer, application re-platforming or refactoring, and testing. Throughout the process, they ensure minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

d. Optimize for cloud: During migration, they optimize workloads for cloud environments, leveraging cloud-native features and best practices to enhance performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.

7. Security and Compliance

a. Implement security controls: Cloud architects design and implement security measures such as encryption, network segmentation, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).

b. Ensure compliance: They align the cloud environment with relevant industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and organizational policies, implementing controls and documentation to demonstrate compliance to auditors and regulators.

c. Monitor for threats: Cloud architects deploy security monitoring and logging tools to detect and respond to security incidents, ensuring rapid threat identification and mitigation.

d. Conduct security assessments: They perform regular security assessments and audits of the cloud infrastructure, applications, and configurations to identify vulnerabilities and areas for improvement.

Skills

Must have

Hands On experience in designing Build and Implementing cloud-native and hybrid solutions.

Proficiency in GCP services, including but not limited to Compute Engine, App Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and Firebase.

Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager, or similar.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Google Professional Cloud Architect certification (strongly preferred)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
