Summary

As a Junior Game Client Engineer at Lightspeed Studios, you'll contribute to maintaining a culture of rapid iteration and practical problem-solving. Responsibilities involve participating in playtests, analyzing gameplay, offering optimization suggestions, and implementing gameplay systems. You'll optimize code for speed and memory usage. The ideal candidate is passionate about games, possesses strong C/C++ programming skills, linear algebra and geometry expertise, and proficiency in at least one scripting language (C#, JavaScript, LUA, Python, etc.). Experience with pathfinding, game AI, actor control, or animation control is beneficial. Shipping at least one AAA game is a requirement.

About the Hiring Team

Lightspeed Tech Center is a R&D department under Lightspeed Studios which develop PUBG Mobile and other high-quality games. Our Tech Center leads the research, exploration, and discovery of innovative technologies and provides technical services for all games during all phases of life cycle, including engine, audio, QA, AI, next generation game, technical cooperation, etc.

What the Role Entails

  • Support and maintain a culture of fast iteration and practical problem-solving.
  • Participate in playtests, conduct analyses, and offer guidance and suggestions for gameplay optimization
  • Implement systems for gameplay
  • Optimize gameplay code for speed and memory usage.      

Who We Look For

  • Passion for playing and making games.
  • High sense of integrity, openness to give others insightful feedback, and respect for fellow teammates.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
  • Good math skills in linear algebra and geometry.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages: C#, JavaScript, LUA, Python, etc.
  • Experiences in some of these areas: pathfinding, game AI, actor control, and/or animation control.
  • Record of shipping at least one AAA game on PC or console from inception to finish.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience working with Unity3D or Unreal.
  • A degree related to engineering or science.
  • Experience with isometric game projects.

The base pay range for this position in the state(s) above is $78,840.0 to $133,920.0 per year. Actual pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign on payment, relocation package, and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as other medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the specific position offered.
