Torchlight is seeking a Lead Compositor for a short-term engagement. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of experience in VFX and be proficient in Nuke. Strong knowledge of photography, lighting, and a diverse portfolio showcasing high-end compositing skills are essential.

Torchlight is looking for a Lead Compositor for a short term engagement.  The candidate will be working on final pixel level VFX and plates for upcoming feature films and television productions.  Working with Torchlight, a real-time based in-house studio, and Sony Pictures Entertainment. The Torchlight team works on numerous productions simultaneously, and the ideal candidate will have to manage their own time as necessary to complete all their tasks.

Role and Responsibility

  • Integrating 2D and 3D elements of a shot while balancing the creative and technical side of each component
  • Paint fixes, rotoscoping, chroma keying, color, and grading continuity, graining/degraining images
  • Stitching plates (live-action footage) together
  • Working with blue/green screen effects, creating mattes
  • Enhancing lighting effects and creating convincing shadows within a shot
  • Integrating rear projection into background images
  • Create the final image of a frame, shot or sequence

Must Have

  • Minimum of 8 years VFX industry experience as a compositor on high-end live-action feature films
  • Experience using Nuke
  • A knowledge and interest in photography and practical lighting
  • Showreel demonstrating a wide range of high-end work including plate-based compositing, set extensions, full CG shots, and FX and CG integration all finished to a high standard.
  • Must demonstrate a good eye for color, composition and technical shot finishing and a proven ability to manage the complexity of work across multiple Senior level shots.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine a must

The anticipated base salary for this position is $80/hour to $90/hour. This role may also qualify for incentives and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
