Job Summary:
As a Makerspace Lead, you will be responsible for supervising STEAM educators, coordinating and promoting activities and programming in Bathurst, NB. You will also be involved in supporting the planning and delivery of high-quality learning experiences at the makerspace and out in the community. Being part of the Delivery Team is being the public face of the Ampere and an ambassador of the work we do.
Responsibilities:
- Work alongside the Layers Staff Team to run a well-organized, busy, fun and exciting STEAM learning space where both learners and educators feel welcome, respected, and inspired.
- Work with STEAM Educators to support development and delivery of engaging, fun, age-appropriate, STEAM and digital skills learning experiences with real-world applications.
- Coordinate the planning and delivery of in-person, blended, and virtual STEAM-based and essential digital literacy skills learning experiences for youth learners.
- Supervise STEAM educators in the Bathurst Makerspace, providing mentorship, training and programming support.
- Maintain current knowledge of trends, initiatives and best practices of Makerspaces. Assess trends, initiatives and best practices and support their integration in the Ampere’s programs as appropriate.
- Schedule programming in the Bathurst Makerspace and, as needed, at partner locations in the community.
- Procure equipment, materials and supplies needed for programming.
- Establish and maintain Bathurst Makerspace systems to ensure space and equipment, are well-organized, in good working order, and ready for program delivery at all times.
- Maintain teaching and tech equipment to facilitate program delivery in the Bathurst Makerspace and in the community.
- Create delivery event registration pages on related platforms as needed.
- Record and input attendance and evaluation data for delivery events including pre-registered programs, in-person deliveries and live virtual deliveries.
- Capture delivery events through photos and videos, confirm photo release forms are signed off, share photos and videos on Ampere’s internal Slack channel #successtories-and-shareables.
- Network with local community initiatives to exchange information, through public speaking, attending conferences and symposiums, tabling events, etc.
- Facilitate the development and delivery of high-quality, community-centred, play-based STEAM and digital skills programming.
- Foster an environment wherein participants have the best learning experience and are challenged in a positive, growth-minded manner.
- Represent Ampere in a respectful and sensitive manner.
- Maintain partnerships with nearby Indigenous communities.
- Complete cross-departmental tasks as assigned that may include but are not limited to: online module/course content and curriculum development, asset creation, contribution to the Root & STEM publication, and support with feedback gathering, evaluation and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Experience working in Eventbrite, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms, Google Calendar
- Experience with media and technology, and basic coding concepts is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with creating and posting content to Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook, etc. is an asset.
- Comfortable learning new technology and digital tools.
- Experience and passion for developing and delivering fun and engaging learning experiences for learners of all ages is an asset.
- Basic First Aid certification is an asset.
- Being fluent in French is an asset.
- A Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) will be a condition of the employment offer (if over the age of 18).
