Job Description

This role interprets HR processes and protocol related to Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs). You will provide consultation and knowledge about grievances, labor management issues, effects bargaining, arbitration, contract review, drafting of proposals/grids, witness preparation, etc. You will make recommendations to clients, and LR Managers & Associates on their appropriate implementation/administration. This role reports into the Sr. Manager, Labor Relations. You will proactively assess client and business needs and handle the development/delivery of CBA interpretation (long term impacts of language to business initiatives, research proposed business changes, etc.) to meet them, often developing multiple option solutions. You will provide input as a management team member/peer for the specific client/business by providing applicable consultation based on the CBA. You will understand the impact of assigned work, prioritize work, develop tactical plans to ensure the completion of objectives within any constraints (e.g., budgets/costs), and advocate the Company’s position in accordance with applicable policies, the CBA, and the law during grievances. You will facilitate the arbitration process including maintaining the relationship with outside counsel, preparing witnesses and evidence, and supporting the Company argument. You will project plan and provide support for execution of negotiations and effects bargaining, including leading information gathering for union and Company partners. You will negotiate with the union on behalf of the company, including drafting Company proposals, integrating partners impacted by contract changes, handling the goals and expectations for the team, and strategizing on impacts to protect the brand. You will act as the Company point of contact for investigations and responses to governmental agencies (e.g. NLRB, EEOC and other federal, state or local agencies), using strong written/verbal communication, fact finding and analytical skills. You will develop/lead client training educating the business on changes to the collective bargaining agreement and leadership responsibility in locally honoring/coordinating the contract (executive and salaried). You will prepare and process settlement agreements, union information requests and updates to employee records.
Must have:
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in Labor Relations, Human Resources, or related experience
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of all aspects of labor and employment laws
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and nuanced understanding of the communication needs of different audiences
  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Labor Relations, Labor Law, or related field and experience

We are a dynamic fast-paced team supporting Disney Experiences (DX) at Walt Disney World! On this team, we interpret HR processes/protocol related to Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs). We provide consultation and knowledge about grievances, labor management issues, effects bargaining, arbitration, contract review, drafting of proposals/grids, witness preparation, etc. and make recommendations to clients, and LR Managers & Associates on their appropriate implementation/administration. What You Will Do

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in Labor Relations, Human Resources, or related experience (e.g. negotiations preparation, bargaining, implementation and administration of CBAs).
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of all aspects of labor and employment laws including, but not limited to NLRA, Title VII, EEO, ADA, and FMLA; and associated employment laws.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and nuanced understanding of the communication needs of different audiences and represent the Company in a professional manner.

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Labor Relations, Labor Law, or related field and experience.
  • JD or similar training and accreditation.
