Job Description

As a Manufacturing Test Engineer at Google, you will develop, enhance, and sustain manufacturing test processes, tools, and procedures for products deployed in Google Data Centers. You'll work closely with vendors, the NPI team, Design Engineers, and Quality Engineers to ensure repeatable and controlled manufacturing test processes. Responsibilities include building and scaling Optical Circuit Switch (OCS) test platforms, defining design for test (DFT) requirements, providing manufacturing test engineering support (software and hardware), driving test optimization initiatives, analyzing and troubleshooting yield issues, and collaborating with internal and partner engineers to improve test processes and product quality. This role requires expertise in developing manufacturing test hardware using custom optics, electronics, fixturing, and instrumentation, along with proficiency in Python, shell scripting, and object-oriented software development in Linux.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in relevant field
8+ years experience in Product or Test Engineering
Experience with custom optics, electronics, and instrumentation
Proficiency in Python and shell scripting
Object-oriented software development in Linux

Good to have:

Master's or PhD in related technical field
Experience with optical measurement tools (power meter, OSA, etc.)
Experience with server, storage, and networking products
Experience with optical connectors, fibers, and ribbons

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in Product Engineering or Test Engineering.
Experience developing and integrating manufacturing test hardware using custom optics, electronics, fixturing, and instrumentation.
Experience with python and shell script and, with object oriented software development in Linux.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related technical field.
Experience setting up manufacturing assembly processes, driving product launches and assembly process optimization within manufacturing operations.
Experience with optical measurement tools (e.g., power meter, switches, variable optical attenuator (VOA), optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) and wavelength meters)
Experience working with server, storage, and networking products.
Experience working with optical connectors, fibers and ribbons including cleaning and inspecting.

As a Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will develop, enhance and sustain manufacturing test processes, tools and procedures for manufacturing operation of products to be deployed at Google Data Center. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $134,000-$198,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Build, scale and sustain Optical Circuit Switch (OCS) test platforms for Google's global manufacturing partners.
Partner with the NPI and Engineering teams to define design for test (DFT) requirements and provide input to Manufacturing Test Strategy for OCS products.
Provide caliber Manufacturing Test Engineering support (Software and Hardware) for new and existing OCS products. Drive test optimization initiatives to improve test process efficiencies, improve test coverage, and reduce cost.
Analyze, troubleshoot and root cause manufacturing yield issues and field escapes. Drive issues to closure with preventive measures.
Collaborate with internal engineers and partner engineers to drive test improvement and test issues or bug resolution. Drive test changes to improve product quality and yield.
