As a Power Engineer in Technical Infrastructure at Google, you will play a key role in developing one of the world's leading computing infrastructures. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing innovative power solutions for point of load applications. This involves working with cutting-edge technologies like ASICs, FPGAs, and processors to create robust and efficient power topologies. You'll be part of a team that ensures Google's products and services run smoothly by building and maintaining data centers and developing next-generation platforms. Your responsibilities will include innovating and designing power conversion specifications and solutions, analyzing trade-offs related to performance, cost, reliability, and availability, leading projects involving new technologies, partnering with industry leaders to evaluate and adopt advanced technologies, engaging cross-functionally for successful rollout and validation, and providing technical leadership to troubleshoot complex system-level power issues.
Must have:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
  • 8 years of experience in power converter design including DC/DC converter design
  • 5 years of experience in technical leadership
Good to have:
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or equivalent
  • Experience in power system design
  • Experience with analyzing and organizing data
  • Knowledge of power electronics fundamentals and various power conversion designs for data center power delivery
  • Knowledge of power converter modeling and simulation

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience working in power converter design including direct current to direct current (DC/DC) converter design and board bring up and debugging, or 7 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 5 years of experience in technical leadership.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in power system design.
  • Experience with analyzing and organizing data.
  • Knowledge of power electronics fundamentals and various power conversion designs for data center power delivery.
  • Knowledge of power converter modeling and simulation.

About the job

As a Power Engineer in Technical Infrastructure, you will be in the development of one of the world's growing computing infrastructures. You will work as part of a team to deliver innovative power solutions for point of load application. Your objective will be to design and implement board, chip level power topologies and control for large scale point of load application including application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and processors.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,000-$305,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Innovate and design on board power conversion specifications and solutions. Analyze performance, cost, reliability and availability trade-offs.
  • Lead projects that involve new technologies or new uses of multiple existing technologies.
  • Partner with power industry leaders to lead evaluation and adoption of the most engaging technologies.
  • Engage cross functionally to ensure successful roll-out, testing and complete validation.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction while troubleshooting complex system level power issues.
