Principal Applied Scientist Lead

Join the Azure GenAI team, the innovators behind the Phi3/Phi3.5 models and the customization of Azure OpenAI models. We are expanding our presence in Cairo and are at the forefront of developing cutting-edge models. We are seeking a Principal Applied Scientist Lead with a strong blend of software development skills, hands-on experience, and a maker and learner mindset.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering.
• Master’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience in industry or academia.
• Experience in leading teams with a technical background and productization impact.
• Industrial experience in generative AI and large language models (LLMs).

Preferred Qualifications:

• A PhD in AI, Computer Science, or related technical fields.

• Develop and experiment with state-of-the-art large language models (LLMs).
• Lead a team of applied scientists and coordinate collaboration across the larger team.
• Apply hands-on experience in developing and experimenting with models.
• Design methods, tools, and infrastructure to advance the state of the art in synthetic data generation and utilization.
• Collaborate with a larger, global team.
• Stay up to date with the latest developments in the field.
