Your mission
As a Senior Data Software Engineer in Analytics, you will be responsible for providing and maintaining high quality, trusted data sets to our internal clients using Python as a main programming language building and deploying ETLs using unstructured and non-structure data sources.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with team members to collect business requirements, define metrics and design data models
- Build, deploy and maintain a set of ETL processes using Python, Cron and Airflow
- Access and understand data from various sources including HDFS, Hive, Jira, Tableau, Rest API requests and many others
- Define and implement best practices on to support a large set of ETL processes
- Create & own unit testing covering the scope of maintained ETLs
- Be the trusted point of contact when data modelling expertise is needed, providing code review and training to the team
- Provide documentation on data models so that they can be quickly understood and used to deliver value by the analytics team
- Conceptualize, evaluate and build a proof of concepts on new models, tools, and techniques.
- Collaborate, peer review, cross skill, and share expertise with other team members.
- Performance tuning of the system and work on new ways to increase efficiency.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 5+ years of experience in data analytics engineering
- Strong experience working with high velocity and high volume data, including good experience in handling relational, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Strong knowledge of database design and development with previous experience in developing ETL processes, and multidimensional data models.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects from conception to completion, including defining project scope, setting milestones, and managing resources.
- High understanding of both relational and multidimensional modeling principles.
- Deep knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming languages and must have a strong experience in Python
- Experience with a variety of data sources, including data lakes (Cloudera)
- Good working knowledge with Kubernetes and Git.
- Solid experience with relational and analytical database systems like Postgres
- Solid experience with SQL queries and database tuning.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) will be beneficial for communicating insights effectively.
- Problem-solving skills, willingness to take ownership and risks, and enthusiasm in the face of technical knowledge.
- Be a driven learner, capable of identifying your own areas of self-development and then leveraging the team’s expertise to build your knowledge and skills
- Be a patient & capable teacher, able to effectively negotiate complex projects and deliver significant outcomes for senior, and potentially difficult, clients
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
Nice to Have
- Good experience with data process technologies like Apache (Spark/Flink/Beam), Oracle ODI, and Confluent’s Platform.
- Knowledge of Exasol
- Knowledge of any other scripting languages, such as Shell Scripting, Scala etc.
