The Senior Engineering Analyst at Google One will leverage expertise in abuse prevention to proactively identify and mitigate emerging threats. This role requires working with cross-functional teams to set processes and priorities for trust, safety, and sustainability goals. Responsibilities include defining and monitoring abuse metrics, leading mitigation efforts, identifying operational improvements, and collaborating with engineering to develop solutions and machine learning algorithms to enhance protection. The analyst will also work to identify new trends and vulnerabilities, influencing company-wide strategies in counter-abuse efforts. The role necessitates strong analytical and communication skills, along with experience in data analysis, project management, and working with cross-functional teams.
Must have:
  • 5+ years data analysis experience

  • Proficient in Python or Golang
  • Cross-functional team collaboration

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
  • 5 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience working on signal development, data analysis, cyber security or anti-abuse.
  • Experience operating within cross-functional teams (e.g., Product, Engineering, Networks, Operations, Business Development).
  • Excellent programming skills with experinece in one or more languages, such as Python and Golang.
  • Experience in querying and analyzing datasets, including time-series data and performing statistical analysis.
  • Ability to deliver persuasive, concise verbal and written communications for various audiences, reflecting a nuanced understanding of the audiences.
  • Excellent business acumen and innovative thinking to solve real-world problems using the right data and suitable technology.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. As an Engineering Analyst, you are expected to leverage your expertise in abuse prevention, proactively identify and mitigate emerging threats, assess the effectiveness of existing protections and deliver technical and operational solutions to enhance user safety and strengthen the platform's resilience against abuse.

A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional teams across the company, identifying new trends, vulnerabilities and influencing company-wide direction and strategies in the Counter-Abuse space.
  • Work within Google Photos and Google One to set processes and priorities alongside Cross-functional teams to set and reach trust, safety and sustainability goals at a level.
  • Define, implement and monitor abuse metrics, initiate and lead mitigation efforts to address any concerning trends.
  • Identify operational and tooling improvements to our Counter-Abuse processes to improve quality, precision, recall and turnaround time.
  • Work with Engineering to develop solutions and Machine learning algorithms to improve our protection coverage and be resilient to changes in trends.
