This is what you will do as Senior HPC Linux DevOps Engineer at NXP
Work closely with your global colleagues within R&D IT and help deliver the HPC services (High Performance Computing and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) to our design engineers.
Your European team has operational responsibility for all designated services within the region and help provide backup support to our other two regions, (India and the US), when necessary to ensure good coverage and fast response for any issues requiring attention. Your work will be a combination of development and operations.
Your responsibilities:
Oversee the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of Linux systems and services & ensure system performance, reliability, and security through proactive monitoring and optimization
Develop and maintain system configurations, base images, and deployment strategies
Create and enforce policies and standards related to Linux system administration, security, and compliance & develop best practices for system configuration, access methods, and base image creation
Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, policies, and procedures and prepare reports & updates for management on project status, system performance, and security posture
Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for end users
You build, maintain and use automation to operate our large scale environment
Your Profile
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in Software Engineering or Computer Science
Approximately 5-7 years of experience working on large DevOps implementations and operations. Proficiency with maintaining automation and configuration management using tools such as GitLab or Jenkins
Skilled Linux System Administration experience for example with RedHat or similar Deep understanding of Linux operating systems, networking, and server management and use tools such as Ansible or Bash
Extensive AWS experience preferably with certifications
Solid DevOps mindset and ability to evaluate and optimize DevOps processes and practice using Lean or Agile
Great problem-solving and analytical skillset to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues at OS level and application level.
Having knowledge and hands on experience with Linux desktops and specific Grid computing applications like LSF, Slurm would be a plus
