Job Description

The Senior Technical Artist will report to the Technical Art Director and will be responsible for defining content creation standards, evaluating runtime performance, and providing guidance to the content creation team. The role involves working with programmers, artists, and designers to establish metrics and workflows for performance management and asset validation. The artist will develop and maintain base shaders, create and maintain tools for artists, review content, provide troubleshooting support, and help maintain shared scripting libraries. The role will be hybrid.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of industry experience
  • Shipped at least 1 title using Unreal Engine 4/5
  • Experienced content management skills
  • Experience with Python or tools development
  • Experience with 3D modeling and world-building
Good to have:
  • C++ Experience
  • Unreal PCG experience

The studio remains committed to redefining interactive storytelling and empowering player choice. The Senior Technical Artist will report to the Technical Art Director. This role won’t have managerial responsibilities. This position is hybrid with a preferred location of Edmonton, Vancouver or Montreal Responsibilities: You will:
  • Define content creation standards (data structure, naming conventions, specs)
  • Evaluate runtime performance, provide guidance to the content creation team on performance issues.
  • Work with programmers, artists, and designers to establish metrics and workflows around performance management and asset validation to ensure that the game operates within established targets
  • Develop and maintain base shaders
  • Create and maintain tools to assist artists with their daily workflows
  • Review content at each stage of development and provide feedback to artists
  • Provide the first line of support for troubleshooting artist issues, and ensure that those which need escalation are resolved
  • Help maintain shared scripting libraries and participate in code reviews
Qualifications: 8+ years of experience in the industry Have shipped at least 1 title using Unreal Engine 4/5 Experienced content management skills (naming convention, data structure, validation) Experience with Python or tools development Experience with 3D modeling, world-building, and node-based scripting systems (materials, blueprints) Nice to have: C++ Experience Unreal PCG experience
