Summary

The Shipping Supervisor leads a team of parcel Quality Auditors, investigating and reporting daily quality issues. The role involves 75% hands-on warehouse floor work, coaching, training, and providing performance feedback. Responsibilities include assigning tasks, maximizing efficiency with RF guns, ensuring quality checks, using the WMS for data and problem-solving, providing process improvement input, ensuring correct international and hazardous material shipments, monitoring inventory and employee productivity, resolving customer complaints, and managing team attendance and performance. The Supervisor also acts as a backup for receiving and works weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Must have:

Position Summary:

Shipping Supervisor must be able to communicate clearly and effectively not only with employees within their department to ensure they remain on task, but also with other departments to help correct process breakdown and ensure quality.  The Shipping Supervisor also ensures that all work is done according to safety and security guidelines, with attention to guidelines regarding hazardous materials and those mandated by the Department of Homeland Security.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads and directs a group of parcel Quality Auditors.
  • Investigates and reports on daily quality issues.
  • Spends approximately 75% of the time on the warehouse floor with team members, building relationships, coaching, teaching, developing, and providing performance feedback.
  • Assign daily tasks as appropriate based on individual team member skills.
  • Maximize efficiency using RF guns in all areas (where appropriate).
  • Ensure quality checks are made at the appropriate stages of packing and preparation for shipping.
  • Work in the WMS for data and transaction retrieval and problem resolution.
  • Provide input to the Warehouse Manager regarding process improvement for greater efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure the correct shipment of international orders and hazardous material orders.
  • Monitor Inventory Control and employee’s productivity and adjust as needed.
  • Respond to and resolve customer complaints in Zendesk.
  • Hold team accountable for attendance and performance.
  • Act as backup for receiving when needed.
  • Available to work weekends, holidays, and overtime when needed.

Experience Required:

  • Requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a distribution/shipping environment. Experience working in SAP, SAP S4 would be preferable.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to lead and manage others, while promoting a teamwork environment.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
  • Proactive in anticipating and alerting others to problems with projects or
  • High detail orientation and
  • Takes initiative and needs little
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and challenging workload.
  • Accomplished contributor with cross-functional team environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Work, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

 

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
