Job Description

As Social Media Manager, you'll be responsible for building a thriving online community from the ground up for Build A Rocket Boy's upcoming AAA action-adventure title and studio projects. This involves creating and executing engaging social media strategies across platforms like Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, and Reddit. You'll craft viral content, including memes and GIFs, that resonate with the gaming community, actively engaging with players and influencers. Campaign management, performance analysis, and staying ahead of internet culture trends are key aspects. You'll also collaborate with marketing, community, and development teams to ensure consistent messaging and integrate community feedback into product development. The role demands a strong understanding of internet culture, meme trends, and proven experience in creating viral content within the gaming industry.

Job Details

We are seeking a creative and highly skilled Social Media Manager to elevate our brand presence across social platforms and activate our community in fun, clever, and authentic ways. In this role, you will be responsible for mastering internet culture and memes and driving engaging content to build our community from the ground up for our upcoming AAA action-adventure title and studio projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of creating viral content, engaging with gaming communities, and activating social media campaigns that resonate with players. You will be part of the core marketing and community team, collaborating closely with the development and design teams to ensure the community feels heard, engaged, and excited about the games.

Key Responsibilities

Community Activation & Engagement:
  • Create and execute social media strategies that drive engagement and excitement within the gaming community.
  • Develop content that resonates with the gaming audience, including memes, GIFs, and trend-driven posts that align with current internet culture.
  • Lead organic community engagement efforts across platforms such as Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, and Reddit, building the community from zero to one.
  • Build and foster relationships with influencers, fans, and community leaders, actively encouraging user-generated content and fan-driven moments.
  • Engage with players and fans in creative ways, responding to trends and conversations in real-time to maintain excitement around the game.

Social Media Content Creation:
  • Curate and brief memes, viral content, and visually engaging posts that reflect the personality of the brand and resonate with gaming culture.
  • Oversee content creation and execution across all social platforms to ensure consistency and creativity in messaging.
  • Develop creative campaigns and stunts that spark conversations and excitement around the game, keeping content fresh and relevant to ongoing trends.

Campaign Management:
  • Plan, execute, and analyze social media campaigns designed to increase awareness, drive player interaction, and grow the community.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and creative teams to ensure campaign messaging is consistent across channels.
  • Monitor and report on campaign performance, tracking KPIs like engagement, reach, and user sentiment to continually optimize social media strategies.

Community Insights & Trends:
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in internet culture, memes, and the gaming industry to leverage timely content opportunities.
  • Monitor community feedback and use insights to inform content strategy, ensuring the community feels engaged, represented, and heard.
  • Track and respond to sentiment, creating opportunities to enhance fan relationships and address concerns in a clever and engaging manner.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other marketing, community, and product teams to align messaging and promote key moments in the game's lifecycle.
  • Partner with development teams to share community feedback and ensure the voice of the player is considered in product and feature development.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in social media management, content creation, or community management, ideally within the gaming industry.
  • Proven ability to create and manage viral content, memes, and creative social media campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of internet culture, meme trends, and how to tap into gaming communities in authentic and engaging ways.
  • Experience with platforms like Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, and YouTube, and how to leverage them for community growth.
  • Ability to track social media performance, analyze engagement data, and adapt strategies based on audience behavior.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse, global gaming audience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience in the gaming industry, particularly with AAA titles.
  • Strong network of mods, meme accounts, creators, and community leaders.
  • Ability to generate creative and clever campaign ideas that activate the community in memorable ways.
  • A passion for gaming, community-building, and staying at the forefront of internet culture.
