This Software Engineer, Assistant Infrastructure role at Google involves solving complex technical challenges to support current and future assistive experiences on Google Home devices. Responsibilities include writing and testing code, building and maintaining production services with robust monitoring, reporting on multi-quarter projects, analyzing logs and experiments, migrating systems/traffic, debugging distributed systems, and working with large legacy codebases. Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in C++ programming, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 1year of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
  • Experience building and running backend/infrastructure and distributed systems.

These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Build and maintain production services with robust telemetry/monitoring/testing.
  • Report on multi-quarter projects.

  • Work on large legacy codebases to understand dependencies and control flows.
