Google's Pixel team seeks a Software Engineer III for their Pixel Biometrics project. Responsibilities include writing and reviewing product/system development code, ensuring adherence to best practices, building scalable systems for Machine Learning data storage, and contributing to the next generation of mobile technology. This role requires proficiency in modern C++, experience with data structures and algorithms, and a collaborative approach. Preferred qualifications include a Master's or PhD in a related field and front-end or back-end web development experience. The Pixel team focuses on delivering a superior mobile experience, combining AI, software, and hardware to create global smartphones and transformative user experiences.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 2 years software development experience
  • 2 years experience with data structures/algorithms
  • Modern C++ development experience
  • Code review and feedback
  • Building scalable ML data systems
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in Computer Science
  • Front-end (HTML/CSS/JS) or back-end (Python, Java, Go) experience

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • Experience in developing software systems in modern C++.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Technical experience with front-end (e.g., HTML/CSS/JS) or back-end (e.g., Python, Java, Go) web/software development technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Build scalable systems to store Machine Learning (ML) data.
