The Nasdaq Client Clearing Engineering organization is expanding our technology center in Bengaluru (Bangalore). We are looking for a Lead/Principal Software Engineer to join our newly started Clearing CounterParty (CCP) system Development team.

We are looking for candidates with strong technical skills who have a genuine desire and drive to deliver top technology solutions to today's markets.

Develops new technology product ideas or strategic product extensions into a commercial product. Establishes technology product specifications, and collaborates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.

May also complete consulting projects with external clients in the area of technology strategy, information systems security, data strategy, systems architecture, custom systems development, new installation and migrations of function/business area applications, application integration web, IP and online solutions and networking. Designs, codes, tests and/or customizes solutions to meet client requirements. May support systems infrastructure, desktop or network architects by preparing detailed specifications.

With this position we offer :
Join the Client Clearing Engineering Development Team within Nasdaq Marketplace Technology. It is a new team which means you will be part of building a local Development team from scratch, but you will also join an extensive network of Software Engineers working with our Clearing systems across the globe.

NRTC product is a proven multi-asset clearing solution that combines exceptional performance with exceptional adaptability. It is designed to meet the task for high performance with low latency, and control risk with sophisticated post-trade clearing workflows and risk management.

This position at Nasdaq is an individual contributor role with a dual responsibility of doing hands-on product development and providing technical leadership to the development team.

Your role and responsibilities:

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will work in a multi-functional product engineering team with highly skilled and experienced Business Analysts, Software Engineers, and Test Engineers. Your responsibilities will be related to software development and technical leadership in a DevOps-oriented environment for a clearing system. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead product development working with a team of 4 – 8 developers as a technology leader.
  • Create proposals for architecture and design documents.
  • Guide team within and across teams in producing extensible, and maintainable code.
  • Develop new advanced functionality and maintain existing codebase in an environment handling large volumes of data and demands for high availability.
  • Participate in technical design reviews, functional specification reviews, develop project estimates, schedules, test plans, and code reviews.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential technical problems/issues.
  • Work in an agile environment and contribute to sprint planning sessions, daily stand ups, reviews and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to the engineering and operational practices and bring in a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Join the vibrant dev community at Nasdaq and be pivotal to building a Center of Excellence in Bangalore.
  • While most of your responsibilities will require you to ensure the code is well-designed, secure, easy to test, easy to monitor and easy to add to over time, you will also be required to be hands-on with writing working code to emerge as a technical expert of the product.

We expect you to have

  • At least 13+ years of software development experience.
  • You are a multi-skilled, solution-oriented teammate with a positive can-do attitude. You can work cross-functionally and internationally in a constantly evolving environment. In our work things can change fast, so you are also flexible to changes in priorities.
  • You are customer obsessed, have a strong passion for technology & strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent understanding of modern software development practices
  • Extensive experience as a Java Backend Developer.
  • Excellent knowledge of Java, databases and cloud development.
  • Experience with GIT, Maven/Gradle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Experience working in agile teams using Scrum or Kanban.

It would be great if you

  • Experience with Unix
  • Knowledge of Java Script and experience working with React.
  • Experience in the trading domain, the post-trade domain or the financial market.
  • Experience work in financial back office functions, primarily within clearing.
