Our flagship products namely SpringerMaterials, Experiments, ADIS Insight & Nature Navigator are built by a team of developers, QAs, BAs, UI & UX experts and SMEs, who collaborate to ensure easy accessibility of relevant data. We follow a problem statement and user experience driven approach to ensure the right data is available in the simplistic way for the scientific community.

About the Role

The job is based in Pune where you will as part of Springer Nature’s digital product development team. You’ll be part of our big community of developers located in Germany, UK and India, to name a few.

Role Responsibilities:

Agile product team, day-to-day you will:

· Architect, develop, and maintain a robust, extensible automated testing framework for a product.

· Mentor and guide developers in implementing effective testing practices, enabling increased code contributions without compromising software quality.

· Own the testing framework's evolution, ensuring scalability, reliability, and adaptability to facilitate the growth of contributors while maintaining high standards of software reliability.

· Define and communicate best practices, guidelines, and standards for test automation, fostering a culture of quality among contributors to the codebase.

· Create and manage a comprehensive test suite strategy, emphasizing high-value test scenarios to maintain software reliability and quality.

· Analyze automated test results, collaborate with the team to address shortcomings, and optimize test coverage to uphold the application's reliability.

· Stay abreast of emerging tools and practices in automated testing, implementing relevant improvements to support increased code contributions without compromising quality.

What you will be doing:

Within 3 Months you will:

• Get familiar with our technology stack. Our application is built in Java,Scala and React, Docker, Unix. Our applications is deployed to GCP.
• Get to know the various Stakeholders and their general requirements.
• Take part in reducing technical debt by working with team mates to add test coverage.
• Get to know all members of the team.

By 3-6 months you will:

• Have a basic understanding of the team’s context, product’s business model.
• Build more knowledge of the product, domain and mentor new teammates.
• On-board new team members and setup their machines and help them get up to speed fast.
• Be able to understand and discuss business requirements with stakeholders and Product Managers and help other disciplines with these conversations.
• Gain trust and confidence of project stakeholders.
• Hold technical discussions with the team in order to improve the product architecture and code quality and build more understanding of the overall product.

By 6-12 months you will:

• Build solid understanding of the product’s business domain and have a technical expertise to participate in discussion for Design and architectural changes.
• Onboard new members to the team or help other teams in the onboarding process.
• Transform high level requirements into actionable work.
• Work with global teams on plan, Design, implementation from an Automation perspective and release.
• Architect, develop, and maintain a robust, extensible automated testing framework for a product in Java/Scala for a product and help the team to solve different scenarios innovatively to avoid issues in LIVE.
• Proactively provide useful and actionable feedback to all team members and stakeholders.
• Triage support queries and diagnose issues in the live applications.

About You

Must have Skills:

• Proven experience (5+ years) as a Sr Quality Analyst, Automation Engineer, or similar role, with expertise in scalable test automation frameworks.
• Expertise in software testing process and manual testing fundamentals
• Working experience in Agile methodology (Lean/Kanban/Scrum)
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java,Scala, Python, JavaScript, React or similar, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
• Proven experience in test automation, including the development of test automation frameworks.
• Strong experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress ,JUnit, TestNG, or similar).
• Proven experience in end-to-end testing, including UI, API, and database testing
• Strong experience with API testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Postman, REST Assured, or similar).
• Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).
• Strong experience in database testing with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, cloud foundry etc)
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Good to have:

• Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, WAVE).
• Experience with cloud-based testing environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of security testing methodologies and tools (e.g., Burp Suite)
• Certification in relevant testing methodologies (e.g., ISTQB).
