Software Engineer (transition to Lead Developer)

Together with recognised industry leaders and governmental innovation engagements, BTLR is in the process of developing an innovative product that enables personalization at scale.

General Information:

We seek a highly skilled Developer (with the ambition to transition to a Lead Developer), to primarily deliver the technical requirements of our core project, whilst being supported from our architecture and extended development team. Further management of an online heuristic solution will additionally from part of this roles leadership responsibility in time.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Management:

• Collaborated with a team of at least 5 developers, demonstrated ownership of complex engineering projects.
• Deliver engineering features from design to deployment in production independently.
• Architect and design scalable solutions.
• Manage build processes and deployments.
• Conduct daily stand-ups and other Agile ceremonies.
• Liaise with business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.

2. Technical Development:

• Hands-on development in Python, focusing on Generative AI, FastAPI, Postgres, messaging (XMPP) bots.
• Design and develop APIs and RESTful services.
• Ensure high-quality web and mobile development practices.

3. Deliverables and Milestones:

• Oversee and execute timely delivery of project milestones and deliverables.

Technical Skills:

Mandatory:

• Expert-level proficiency in Python
• Experience with Generative AI
• Proficiency in FastAPI
• Experience with vector databases like Qdrant, ChromaDB, etc.
• Expertise in API design and development
• Experience with RESTful services
• Strong knowledge of Postgres

Desired:

• Experience working with graph databases (e.g. Neo4J) or other ML databases (e.g Redis)
• Experience using vector stores
• Experience of web development
• Mobile development experience

Experience:

• Minimum of 3+ years of extensive development experience as a full stack developer and architect.
• Demonstrable GitHub repositories or equivalent proof of experience.

Soft Skills:

• Strong leadership, autonomy and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to navigate stakeholder discussions effectively.
• Proven problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to challenges.

Team and Reporting Structure:

• Flat organisational structure.
• Collaborates with and grows a team of 5+ developers.

Work Environment:

• Type: Hybrid
• Location: This role will require an individual to work in-person (Pune, India) on a scheduled basis, alongside remotely, with the lead developer and founders during the early stages of delivery/execution.
