Job Description

As a Software Engineering Manager II at Google's LearnX team, you'll lead engineering teams building AI-driven capabilities and features for learning products. Responsibilities include leading the development of AI features, managing data training systems, overseeing infrastructure for AI model training, and defining technical direction and strategy. You'll collaborate with stakeholders to drive project delivery and build AI capabilities for Search and Lens. This role requires 8+ years of software development experience (Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript) and 3+ years in technical leadership, including 2+ years of people management. You'll manage project goals, contribute to product strategy, and develop your team, working on large-scale projects across multiple international sites.

Master's or PhD in CS
Experience with machine learning

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
Experience running software engineering teams and delivering multi-quarter projects.
Experience in machine learning, building/training AI models, back-end data infrastructure or data engineering.
Experience with ideation and innovation at scale.
Ability to collaborate with other people, teams and functions globally, communicate cross-functionally.
Passion for coaching and supporting engineers and engineering managers.
