Role - SAP Basis Consultant
Summary
The SAP Basis Consultant is responsible for the administration, configuration, and maintenance of SAP systems. This includes system installations, upgrades, patches, performance tuning, and ensuring the overall health of the SAP environment. The consultant will work closely with technical and functional teams to provide seamless support for ongoing operations and projects.
Responsibilities
- Complete SAP monitoring of application servers up and running, user logged in.
- Assist with client Administration, including client creation, copy, deletion, export, and import.
- Transport setup and Change Request Management, TR import & troubleshoot.
- Schedule new background jobs and report issues and troubleshoot.
- Install new R/3 and Java-based systems in Unix-based OS.
- Perform post-installation activities on R/3 and JAVA-based systems.
- Create and maintain logical systems.
- Configure the logon load balancing, OP modes, SMLG, etc.
- Apply support packages and add-ons, database patches and DB client updates.
- Monitor and fine-tune system performance at SAP and database levels.
- Apply SAP LICENSE NOTE using NOTES auto and manually.
- Solution Manager 7.2 Implementation, configuration, and administration.
- System Refresh and copy activities with HANA, Sybase database & MaxDB
- User Management - user creation, deletion, users lock/unlock, extend the validity.
- Role design and build: Create new roles – Single role, Master, Composite & Derived roles.
- Limit/delimitation of SAP roles to users.
- Document SAP security policies and procedures.
- SAP HANA DB Installation, Configuration and Administration
- Backup configuration and management for SAP HANA DB, Sybase DB & Max DB
- Sybase 16.0 DB Upgrade, configuration, and administration.
- Administration and sound knowledge of Linux based Operating system
- Understanding of Network knowledge will be an added advantage
- SAP NetWeaver 7.5 Enterprise portal Upgrade and administration.
- SAP Content Server and Max DB database Implementation and administration.
- SSO Certificate Configuration.
- SAP Web Dispatcher installation, configuration, and implementation.
- SAP Router Installation and Administration.
- SAP Internal / External Audit - Quarterly and Yearly.
- Should be competent in system upgrade activities and planning, as well as OSS activities, including creating OSS messages, opening systems, maintaining SAP system data, updating new systems, etc.
- Translate development requirements and specifications into high-quality, efficient SAP solutions.
- Provide L2 support, IDOC Monitoring, Log management.
- Transform business function requirements into technical program specs to code, test, and debug programs.
- Interacts with the end users, and functional & technical consultants, to understand the issues and provide solutions with seamless coordination.
Skills & Qualifications
- Should have 3-6 years of experience primarily in Security and BASIS, competent in the day-to-day activities and the following areas.
- At least one full life-cycle implementation project (from Blueprint/Explore through Go-Live).
- Understand SAP Activate Methodology.
- Ability to use Service Marketplace to create tickets, research notes, and review release notes.
- Should know about System upgrade activities, and planning.
- Well-versed with OSS activities, creating OSS messages, opening systems, maintaining SAP system data, updating new systems, etc.
- Well-versed with Oracle DB activities, applying parameters at the database level.
- Should have good knowledge of Linux & HPUX and SAP Security activities.
- SAP ECC SPS, EHP, NetWeaver Upgrade using SUM tool.
- SAP Certification (Desired).

- Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
