Job Description

The Staff Software Engineer role involves leading an engineering team to deliver well-designed and tested features. Responsibilities include writing clean code, providing technical guidance, and ensuring timely delivery. The engineer will also participate in planning and architectural discussions, as well as identifying gaps. The role requires active participation and leadership within the team to achieve sprint goals. The engineer should be capable of driving discussions to ensure all requirements are met and be able to identify the “why” and “how” of tasks and projects. They will also be responsible for ensuring the delivery of commitments on time that meet product and engineering requirements. There is also an expectation that the individual will fill any technical gaps necessary to deliver a great outcome.
Must have:
  • 8+ years experience with Go, Angular, Ruby on Rails, React, or similar technologies
  • Experience writing or refactoring code to be scalable and performant
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD deployment strategies and technologies
  • Proficient with relational databases like MySQL
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker)
  • Passion for writing simple, clean, and efficient code
  • Unwavering commitment to unit/functional/integration testing
  • Experience designing and implementation of high complexity solutions and features
  • Ability to document and demonstrate solutions by using flowcharts, diagrams, and white-boarding
Good to have:
  • 8+ years experience with the Ruby on Rails framework, ReactJS, or similar technologies
  • MongoDB experience
  • OAuth, SAML, OIDC
  • Familiarity with scrum and agile methodologies
  • Experience with AWS, specifically: EC2, ECR, S3, Fargate, RDS
  • Internationalization

Job Details

Due to FedRAMP requirements, candidates for this role will need to be a US citizen residing on US soil.

SailPoint provides third-party identity risk solutions that are easy to use, and purpose built to help organizations execute risk-based identity access and lifecycle strategies for non-employee populations. We are tackling identity security threats for customers in health care, financial services, transportation, insurance, and more through our Non-employee Risk Management product. SailPoint’s solution provides an efficient, flexible, and secure identity solution to help companies manage non-employees and their relationships within those organizations.

We are looking for a Tech Lead to take the reins of one of our engineering teams to deliver well-designed, well-tested, and well-built features and fixes. This individual will be responsible for representing the team in key planning, design, and architectural discussions. They will provide mentorship, oversight, and contribute to the development of our applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Write code that is clear, well tested, optimized, and thoroughly documented

  • Learn and be a champion for industry, and SailPoint standard best practices

  • Provide planned and interrupt-driven technical help and perspective to all engineers within the team

  • Be the point of contact for technical feasibility of product requests

  • Be a partner with the Engineering Manager to co-own sprint goals, and ensure the path to delivery is fully understood and feasible

  • Support the Engineering Manager and on-call with the prioritization of incoming bug triage and prioritization of work

  • Ensure delivery of commitments on time that meet product and engineering requirements

  • Drive discussions to ensure that all requirements are exposed and being met during the execution of a project

  • Look ahead to future sprints and identify gaps in description, designs, or conditions of satisfaction

  • Lead technical planning, grooming and breakdown of tasks with a clear understanding of the “why” and “how” tasks and projects will be executed

  • Fill any technical gaps necessary to deliver a great outcome

Requirements:

  • 8+ years experience with the Go, Angular, Ruby on Rails, React, or similar technologies

  • Demonstrable experience writing or refactoring code to be scalable and performant

  • Strong understanding of CI/CD deployment strategies and technologies

  • Proficient with relational databases like MySQL

  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker)

  • Passion for writing simple, clean, and efficient code

  • Unwavering commitment to unit/functional/integration testing to ensure maintainable, high-quality software.

  • Experience designing and implementation of high complexity solutions and features

  • Ability to document and demonstrate solutions by using flowcharts, diagrams, and white-boarding

Bonus skills:

  • 8+ years experience with the Ruby on Rails framework, ReactJS, or similar technologies

Education (preferred, not required):

  • BS in Computer Science/Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience

Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-mid-max, USD):

$129,000 - $184,300 - $239,600

Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee’s home location.
