Job Description

This Staff Software Engineer role at Google's Woodshed, Core team focuses on building the foundational technology for Google's flagship products. Responsibilities include providing technical leadership on high-impact projects, collaborating on roadmap planning, managing project priorities and deliverables, and partnering with infrastructure and client teams for integrations. The role also involves managing a small team, reviewing code for quality, and working with C++, object-oriented programming, and the STL. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development, testing, launching products, and software design/architecture, along with strong cross-functional collaboration skills. The Core team impacts crucial technical decisions across Google.

Must have:

8+ years software development experience
C++ programming expertise
Experience with data structures/algorithms
Software design and architecture experience
Testing and product launch experience
Object-oriented programming knowledge

Good to have:

Backend infrastructure system development
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
Experience developing software applications using the C++ programming language.
Experience with object-oriented programming, templates, and the Standard Template Library (STL).

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in developing backend, infrastructure-oriented systems.
Strong cross-functional team collaboration skills and coordinating work between a diverse set of partners.
