This Technical Lead, Embedded Systems, Silicon role at Google requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and involves integrating drivers and firmware, debugging software/hardware, developing test plans, driving process improvements, and reporting progress. Responsibilities include ensuring software stability and reliability, planning enablement approaches, and working with embedded operating systems. Must have:
  • 5+ years software development experience
  • 3+ years embedded OS experience
  • Experience in software testing and launch
  • Software design and architecture experience
  • Debugging and patch submission skills
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in CS or related field
  • Technical leadership experience
  • AOSP development experience
  • Android BSP, Linux driver, kernel module experience

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience with Android Open Source Project (AOSP) development.
  • Experience with architecture, design, development, testing and deployment for Android BSP, Linux device drivers, Linux kernel modules.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate drivers and firmware during bring-up.
  • Debug software and hardware problems and submit patches for bug fixing or feature improvement.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to ensure software stability and reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement of Integration flow, debug tools, and processes.
  • Plan enablement approach and Report feature development progress at various program milestone.
