Job Description

The Arborist at Walt Disney World plays a vital role in maintaining the park's stunning landscapes. Responsibilities include performing routine arboriculture maintenance, operating heavy machinery (forklifts, aerial work platforms, etc.), tree climbing, pruning, and transplanting. The role demands proficiency in using chainsaws, chippers, and other specialized equipment, while adhering to strict safety standards (ANSI Z133 and ANSI 300). The Arborist will ensure the ‘Guest Facing’ horticulture is up to Walt Disney World's high standards, working across the Parks and Resort property, potentially in elevated platforms or confined spaces. The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in horticulture or agriculture and a valid Class A CDL with air brakes endorsement. This is a 3rd shift role.
Must have:
  • 3+ years horticulture/agriculture experience
  • Aerial rescue guidelines compliance
  • Knowledge of Southern tree species
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Valid Class A CDL with air brakes
  • ANSI Z133 & 300 safety knowledge
Good to have:
  • ISA certification
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Proficiency in office software
  • Tree transplanting/loading expertise
  • Various tree pruning styles

Job Details

Job Summary:

The Arborist is critical in ensuring our landscaping onstage looks great for our guests. The Arborist provides horticulture support for the Global team. This craft helps to ensure the ‘Guest Facing’ horticulture is up to the Walt Disney World standard. The Arborist applicant should have experience in tree production, tree care, tree pruning, and tree moving. The field service position may include work from elevated platforms and confined spaces throughout the Walt Disney World Parks and Resort property.

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $24.76 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled routine arboriculture maintenance
  • Operate Forklifts, Lull, box truck, ladder work, work at heights
  • Climb trees using a rope and saddle
  • Operate tools and equipment to include chainsaws, chippers and aerial work platforms (AWP) and bucket trucks
  • Cast members may be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience within Horticulture or Agriculture subject areas
  • Able to meet requirements for climbing aerial rescue guidelines
  • Familiar with industry safety standards (ANSI Z133) and procedures (ANSI 300)
  • Knowledge of southern tree species
  • Able to lift, push or pull up to 50lbs
  • Valid CDL Class “A” with air brakes endorsement
  • 3rd shift role
  • Speak and read English to communicate with guests

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Most have ISA certification
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Great teammate
  • Proficiency in standard office software programs and mobile electronic devices
  • Proficiency in all aspects of
    • tree transplanting and loading
    • tree pruning including natural and geometric styles
    • proper tree planting

Schedule Availability:
Our Theme Parks and Resorts operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, schedules and start time will vary.
