Torch Technologies, a 100% Employee-owned company, is seeking an Unreal Engine Technical Artist II who is experienced and passionate about material development, real time lighting, performance optimization of art assets for mixed reality applications, blueprinting, and real time lighting. Torch is seeking a candidate to work as part of our creative team to add to our creative pipeline to support real-time simulation and rendered cinematics efforts. Candidate will work directly with customers supporting the Ground Vehicle System Center (GVSC). Candidate will develop environments for vehicle visualization tools and other purposes for use in Unreal Engine. Candidate will provide unreal engine technical support and problem solving for both the creative and software teams. Candidate must be able to work on site at the Torch Michigan office located in Sterling Heights, MI. Candidate should be trustworthy, dependable, and self-motivated, eager to overcome challenges and solve problems. Previous experience working within a DoD environment is a plus, but not required. A portfolio demonstrating Unreal engine proficiency is required.
Qualified candidates will have direct experience with the following:
Knowledge and experience with exterior environments creation production pipeline
Demonstration of strong design fundamentals, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to create performant and visually appealing environments
A strong portfolio of work that showcases a variety of work using the Unreal Engine.
Experience with 3D Software (Ex. Blender, Houdini, Maya, 3ds Max, etc..)
Ability to take direction and work within an iterative and collaborative design process
Proven experience working in a production environment
Enthusiasm for developing and mentoring other artists
Qualified candidates will have an interest or experience in one or more of the following areas:
3D generalist skillsets such as modeling, texturing, and material authoring
Familiarity or experience with environment creation for real time applications
Familiarity or experience with procedural mechanical rigging
Experience optimizing content for AR/VR using Unreal Engine.
Experience creating cinematics using Unreal Engine.
Familiarity or experience with Python, C++
Education and Experience Requirements:
BA in Entertainment Arts, Game Art, 3D Animation, or other relevant artistic education with 2-5 years of experience.
Preference given to applicants with a history of pursuing continuing education
