Alt.vfx, the largest independently owned VFX studio in Australia, is seeking talented Compositors for their Brisbane studio. The role involves performing all compositing tasks such as 2D tracking, matte extraction, layering elements, and color grading. Compositors will maintain the overall look, color balance, and quality of shots, working collaboratively with other artists. They will independently provide solutions to technical and aesthetic problems, even under time pressure, ensuring uniformity in the final work. Must have:
  • Strong knowledge of Nuke.
  • Strong aesthetic skills in photo-realism and color.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong sense of composition, color, and design.
  • Solid compositing experience in film or commercial production.

Job Details

Alt.vfx – the largest independently owned VFX studio in Australia – is looking for talented Compositors. The Alt Group is an award winning boutique VFX house responsible for Penguin Bloom, The Power of The Dog (12 Academy award nominations) – Wolf Like Me, La Brea, Pieces of Her, Nine Perfect Strangers, and many more. This current opprtunity is for our Brisbane studio, but we will also consider remote artists already residing in Queensland.

You will need

  • A strong knowledge of Nuke.
  • Strong aesthetic skills in judging photo-realism and colour.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work gracefully under pressure to meet deadlines, and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong sense of composition, colour and design.
  • Solid compositing experience in a feature film or commercial production environment.

Your day will consist of

  • Performing all tasks associated with the compositing process, including 2D tracking, matte extraction, layering of elements, and colour grading on difficult shots.
  • Maintain the overall look, colour balance, and quality for assigned shots and sequences to create uniformity in all finished work.
  • Work collaboratively with artists from other disciplines.
  • Independently provide solutions to technical and aesthetic problems, with minimal direction, and can handle the most difficult tasks under intense time pressure.
