Job Description

The Junior Program Associate will support the Sustainable Cities and Transport Program, focusing on decarbonizing freight. Responsibilities include conducting research on freight decarbonization and electrification, analyzing data, designing data collection instruments, developing reports and presentations, and engaging with stakeholders. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful research in sustainable transport. The candidate will also be involved in supporting documentation and coordination for internal and external meetings and workshops.

  • Proficiency in MS Office.

About your role: 
We are seeking for a junior program associate for the Sustainable Cities and Transport Program to support our work on decarbonizing freight. You will support various ongoing projects through technical research, freight financing strategies, feasibility analysis and solutions to accelerate adoption of electric medium- and heavy-duty trucks (e-MHDTs). This role offers an excellent opportunity to engage in impactful research and gain exposure to cutting-edge initiatives in sustainable transport.
 
How your day will unfold: 
•    Conduct in-depth research on freight decarbonization, electric medium and heavy-duty trucks (e-MHDTs), charging infrastructure, and financing strategies.
•    Analyze diverse datasets related to freight operations, vehicle performance, infrastructure readiness, and feasibility of electrification to generate actionable insights.
•    Design and implement data collection instruments (e.g., surveys, interviews), including on-ground execution and identification of alternate data sources.
•    Develop visually compelling and content-rich slide decks, reports, briefs, and technical notes to effectively communicate research findings.
•    Support documentation and coordination for internal and external meetings, workshops, and stakeholder consultations.
•    Engage with industry partners and stakeholders to map priorities, gather inputs, and contribute to collaborative knowledge-building.
•    Assist in the creation of various project collaterals, including policy notes, presentations, and communication material.
 
Skills and Qualifications we seek: 
•    Master's degree in transport planning, transport engineering, urban planning, public policy or with 0-2 years of experience
•    Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research
•    Proficiency in MS Office is a must
•    Ability to generate high-quality research. Good writing skills is essential.
•    Prior work or understanding of freight or electric mobility is preferable. 
•    Ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner, think creatively, work efficiently under high pressure.
•    Experience with tools like Excel (advanced), Power BI, or any data visualization/statistical software (e.g., R, Python, Stata) is a strong plus
 
Location: Delhi, India 

Salary and Benefits: INR 7,50,000 to INR 9,40,000 CTC
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
