Job Summary

Job Description

The Logistics Specialist plans and executes efficient domestic and international shipments. Responsibilities include route and transport mode selection, freight forwarder/carrier selection, and compliant customs clearance. The role involves developing logistics plans for cost-effective goods movement via sea, road, and air; analyzing logistics quotes; creating shipment documentation; resolving delivery issues with suppliers and carriers; and reviewing logistics invoices. Experience with road, ocean, and air freight, importing/exporting, and ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or MS Dynamics) is required.

Must have:

3+ years logistics experience (domestic & international)
Road, ocean, air freight management
Import/export documentation creation
ERP system experience (Oracle, SAP, MS Dynamics)
Strong analytical and systems skills

Job Overview

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the planning and operational execution of efficient domestic and international shipments including route and transport mode selection, freight forwarder/carrier selection and compliant customs clearance.

Responsibilities

Develops logistics plans for efficient and cost-effective movement of goods via sea, road and/or air.
Requests and analyzes logistics quotes to identify savings and/or best transport options.
Creates or approves required documentation for domestic and international shipments.

Interacts with suppliers and freight forwarders/carriers to resolve delivery issues.
Reviews and approves logistics related invoices.

Skills/Requirements

3+ years’ experience in a logistics related role; preferably with both domestic and international shipping.
Experience managing movement of goods by road, ocean and air including an understanding of the relative costs and benefits of the different modes.
Experience creating documentation necessary for importing and exporting commercial goods.

Experience working with an ERP system such as Oracle, SAP or MS Dynamics

Strong analytical and systems skills
