The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing The Bahamas firm’s tax-related activities, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and regulations, and optimizing tax strategies. As a Manager, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to:
Responsible for managing all aspects of tax planning, compliance, reporting, and strategy for the Firm. This role involves preparing and reviewing tax filings with the Department of Inland Revenue, ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws of the Firm’s clients, and developing tax-efficient strategies for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable Bahamian laws and international tax laws.
Prepare and review tax filings including corporate income tax returns, VAT returns, business license, and other Bahamian taxes, in response to clients’ business needs.
Tax Planning
Liaise with the firm’s clients in developing and implementing tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
Stay updated on new tax regulations and identify tax-saving opportunities for the firm.
Tax Audits
Coordinate and manage tax audits and provide support in resolving disputes with the relevant tax authorities.
Reporting
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of tax provisions for financial statements under applicable accounting standards (e.g., US GAAP, IFRS, etc).
Manage quarterly and annual tax reporting.
Advisory Role
Provide tax advice to the partners and senior management on various Bahamian-based business transactions, including purchase of real property, share purchases/transfers, mergers, acquisitions, expansions, investments etc.
Risk Management
Identify and mitigate tax risks by assisting with developing tax policies and procedures.
Ensure internal controls are in place and adhered to for all tax matters.
Team Leadership
Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals as the department expands.
Provide training and guidance on complex tax issues.
Collaboration
Work closely with the finance, audit, and fellow tax and legal services team to integrate tax considerations into overall business strategy.
Documentation
Maintain accurate and complete documentation of the clients tax positions, policies, and procedures.
