About the job:
As a Principal Engineer, AI, Trust, Security, Site Reliability Engineering, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps Google's AI platform running smoothly and securely. You will work with a diverse team of engineers to design and implement solutions that are reliable, scalable, and secure. You will also be responsible for setting the technical direction for AI, trust, and security initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of distributed systems, security, and AI engineering. You will have the opportunity to work on challenging and impactful projects that will help shape the future of Google's AI platform.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience in technical leadership
  • Experience in architecting, designing, and developing distributed systems
Good to have:
  • Experience developing and implementing technical programs in security and/or AI engineering
  • Leadership experience in the security, reliability, and resilience space
  • Experience leading and implementing engineering projects at an executive level
  • Understanding of compute, networking, application stacks, and supporting product features, services, and technologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in technical leadership and setting technical direction for engineering projects.
  • Experience in architecting, designing, and developing distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience developing and implementing technical programs in security and/or AI engineering or product/platform design.
  • Leadership experience in the security, reliability and resilience space. Experience having impact over a large-scale of users.
  • Experience leading and implementing engineering projects at an executive level within multinational and distributed organizations.
  • Experience partnering and leading by influence, as well as working with stakeholders and collaborating across organizational boundaries.
  • Understanding of compute, networking, application stacks, and supporting product features, services, and technologies.

  • Challenge our approach and status quo to elevate our platform reliability, security, and resilience beyond our current capabilities.
  • Contribute to our most complex technical projects and externally visible product decisions, using your technical acumen, problem-solving abilities, and good judgment to help build scalable and future-proof Google systems.
