We are Spliced Inc. and we’re looking for a Principal UI Engineer.
The Role
You will play a critical role by working within the team that will build an intuitive, powerful, and stable user interface system, that will work alongside other gameplay systems to help redefine what a game is and how players interact with it.
You can use your unique skill set and abilities to problem-solve, have a meaningful impact on the user interface and interactive gameplay features. We are truly innovating in our gameplay and you will be at the forefront of that!
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement intuitive, powerful and stable user interface system for a multiplayer environment, using Unreal Engine and C++, to allow other developers to easily and efficiently expand game content, features and systems
- Work with the designers and gameplay engineers to understand the functional requirements of the User Interface
- Architect, build, and maintain a framework in Unreal for a user interface system that will meet all the requirements of the game design and be performant and stable
- Work with the UX team to ensure the proper requirements are understood, and communication lines are open
- Accept art and concepts from the UX team, cut up art as necessary, and implement in Unreal Engine
- Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with other members of the team using Slack, code reviews, design reviews, bugs, and video calls
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience working with Unreal Engine
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, working on multidiscipline teams
- 2+ years of professional experience using C++
- 2+ years of working with User Interface code and scripting
- Comfortable using object-oriented design patterns
- Strong interpersonal skills: the abilities to communicate positively and effectively, and to take constructive feedback on work well. Self-motivated, can-do attitude, quick learner and problem solver
- Passionate about creating User Interfaces for games and delivering the highest quality gameplay for the player
- Computer science degree
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience working on user interface systems and scripting
- Experience working on large scale teams of 100 or more
- Experience shipping an AAA game title
