Job Description

Schell Games is seeking a Quality Assurance Fellow to assess the stability and usability of their experiences and ensure they meet functional requirements. The QA Fellow will find, isolate, document, and report issues in software and systems. Responsibilities include executing test cases and creating bug reports. This role offers opportunities to interact and learn from various disciplines, including Engineering, Design, Art, Production, and Operations. The fellow position has a 6-9 month duration.
Must have:
  • Located in the Pittsburgh area, in the office Tuesday - Thursday.
  • Assist in test cases while taking meticulous notes.
  • Collaborate with developers to identify defects and improvements.
  • Demonstrate ability to transition between tasks and support requests.
  • Collaborate with other QA team members to overcome obstacles.
  • Communicate task status, risks and expected delivery to supervisor.
  • File, track, and verify defects using bug writing tools.
  • Create and complete various QA documentation.

Schell Games is a highly talented group of artists, programmers, producers, and game designers led by game industry veteran Jesse Schell. We're the largest full-service education and entertainment game development company in the United States. QUALITY ASSURANCE FELLOW ( Fellowships have a 6-9 month duration)


Schell Games is currently seeking to fill a QA Fellow position to work within a cross-functional software development team. Our QA staff works to assess the stability and usability of our experiences, and ensure adherence to the functional requirements outlined by both internal teams and clients. QA Fellows find, isolate, document, and accurately report issues found in software and systems created or used by Schell Games development teams. Responsibilities include execution of test cases, creating robust bug reports, and reporting results to project stakeholders.


You will have many opportunities to interact with, make suggestions to, and learn from individuals from many disciplines, (Engineering, Design, Art, Production, Operations). This position reports to the Principal QA Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must be located in the Pittsburgh area for the role and expected to be in the office Tuesday - Thursday, with 3 extra WFH days per month
  • Assist in completing test cases while taking meticulous notes
  • Collaborate with developers to identify defects, and suggest improvements to products
  • Demonstrate the ability to transition between tasks and quickly respond to support requests
  • Collaborate with other QA team members to overcome obstacles and roadblocks
  • Communicate status of all tasks to supervisor, including time remaining, project risks and expected delivery
  • File, track, and verify defects using standardized bug writing requirements and tracking tools
  • Create and complete various QA documentation


DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:


  • Familiarity with the life cycle of games as a service. (GaaS)
  • Passion for video games and digital entertainment
  • Basic understanding of Software Development Life Cycle/experience with Agile SCRUM methodology preferred
  • A working understanding of computer technology including minor troubleshooting
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated with excellent attitude and the ability to self-manage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire to be part of a highly productive, fast-paced team
  • Interest in learning software QA methodologies and processes
  • Demonstrates a can-do attitude in seeking solutions to obstacles
  • Basic understanding of database design and use, including simple queries

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Be able to wear a VR headset for an extended period of time, supporting over 1 pound on head and neck area.
