Quality Designers are strategic pillar owners for quality and support a major service/feature. Focused on ensuring project deliverables are being completed on time through active participation in test responsibilities and processes while maintaining EA's high standard of end-to-end quality applying deep partnerships. You will use data for planning and guide the coverage and analysis through dashboards to inform project metrics. Additionally, they will focus on improving the operational effectiveness of the QA effort by assessing current quality assurance practices and incorporating new QA strategies and helping departmental projects.

Specifically we need a technical minded person with experience with Automation and Scripting. This includes multi-discipline collaboration to satisfy schedules of test coverage and project metrics.

We're picturing someone experienced in game development, passionate and eager about quality, and uses data to protect the player experience to join us. You will work within the team to guide automation delivery, improve QA practice across EA, have a Quality mindset from a consumer perspective, and be an advocate in game design and implementation decisions.

You will report to the Head of Quality for Cliffhanger Studios.

Role is Seattle based and open to hybrid or Remote (most North America locations).

Responsibilities

  • Motivator with the ability to jump in Coordinate multiple work streams in task execution and task management.

  • Prioritize the end-user, ensuring that feedback is delivered with the community in mind while still accounting for development constraints such as timelines and budgets

  • Build test cases, plans and suites, defect tracking, and regression tests

  • Apply a range of testing techniques and methodologies to identify defects of a very high-quality level

  • Analyze and perform game design feedback, test case design modification, and reviews at both a requirements level and product build level producing reports at a rhythm necessary to support product

  • Root cause analysis and defect analysis with the ability to validate assumptions and propose potential solutions to problems

  • Mentor and cultivate others within their project team

  • Monitor and increase product quality Indicators throughout project duration to give a constant heartbeat on product quality

  • Guide an upstream quality culture advocating best practices for continuous improvement

  • Develop automated tests in Unreal and other technologies

  • Investigate, isolate, and debug test runs and failures

  • Investigate new automated test technologies and techniques

Experience

  • As a craft expert this expected to have at a minimum: 7 years of experience in a software/game development environment

  • Technical programming degree/certificate or 1+ year of programming experience. (Ex: C++)

  • Experience with game engines and tooling (Ex: Unreal and Blueprints)

  • Understanding of automated testing, testing patterns, and test optimization

  • Risk management and solutions-oriented problem-solving techniques

  • Communicate across all kinds of disciplines where needed

  • An appreciation or practical understanding of analytics and measurements as a way of tracking product quality

  • Comfortable conversing within engineering disciplines to promote quality principles

  • Database and Test case test management software experience i.e. Jira, QMetry

  • Excellent knowledge of product life cycle, tools, and execution planning

  • Experience in a Scrum / Agile software development environment

  • Experience with SQL knowledge and Data validation

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these locations. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the range and benefits for your specific location. EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento): º $103,200 - $145,600 USD Annually

  • New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo): º $92,600 - $145,600 USD Annually

  • Jersey City, NJ : º $117,300 - $145,600 USD Annually

  • Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs): º $111,800 - $151,800 USD Annually

  • Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane): º $92,600 - $135,600 USD Annually

  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria): º $89,300 - $123,000 CAN Annually

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity. For British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
