This role is part of our business unit working on original games. These teams focus on the creation, development, and maintenance of Behaviour-owned IPs such as Dead by Daylight and Meet Your Maker and other unannounced titles in development.

We're seeking a Senior Technical Animator to keep shaping our award winning IP Dead by Daylight and redefine player engagement experiences. The technical animator is the person whose work allows animator to leverage their skills. They use their strong knowledge of Technical Animation principles to create the structure that animators need to bring characters to life according to design requirements. 

The technical animator has the knowledge to create well-thought-of and optimized structures depending on production constraints. They share their experience working with polygonal structures of models to get the best possible deformation and follows up with animators to validate the quality and relevance of their work. 

In this role, you will:

    • Understand the technical development vision in animation; 
    • Work within the technical restraints; 
    • Suggest new tools and best practices; 
    • Maintain strong communication with animators, designers and programmers; 
    • Support animators to optimize the integration and use of animations in engine; 
    • Support the rigging team.

What we’re looking for :

    • Five (5) years’ experience in any Engine, Unreal is a plus; 
    • In-depth knowledge of 3D animation; 
    • Willingness to explore new software and technical animation advances with curiosity; 
    • Proficiency with Maya animation software is considered an asset; 
    • Strong knowledge of AnimGraph, State Machine, Blueprint, Dynamics; 
    • Be a mentor to the technical animation team; 
    • Experience with motion capture is considered an asset; 
    • Proficiency in French and English.

L’animateur·trice technique est celui ou celle qui permet aux animateurs·rices de pouvoir faire rayonner leur talent. Armé·e d’une bonne connaissance des principes d'Animation Technique, vous créez la structure qui permet à l’animateur·rice de déformer le personnage ou l’objet selon les exigences du design.

Vos connaissances vous permettent de créer des structures réfléchies et optimisées selon les contraintes de production. Vous partagez votre expérience en orientant la structure polygonale des modèles pour obtenir la meilleure déformation possible et vous assurez le suivi auprès des animateurs·rices pour valider la qualité et la pertinence de votre travail.
