The Software Engineer II, Borg role at Google involves implementing, debugging, and enhancing software components for efficient workload scheduling within Google's data centers. Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 1 year software development experience
  • 1 year experience with data structures/algorithms
  • Implement, debug, and enhance software components
  • Develop tools to measure and optimize production load
Good to have:
  • C++ programming experience
  • Concurrency, multithreading, synchronization experience
  • Excellent understanding of the Linux ecosystem

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience programming in C++.
  • Experience in concurrency, multithreading, and synchronization.
  • Excellent understanding of the Linux ecosystem.

  • Implement, debug. and enhance various software components for efficient workloads scheduling.
  • Develop tools to measure, quantify, and fine tune the production load.
  • Identify and drive optimizations and improvements to the Borg user experience.
  • Design large-scale systems, making the right trade-offs for reliability and maintainability.
  • Communicate with partners across Alphabet to gather requirements and drive adoption efforts.
