Job Description

As a Software Engineer III at Google, you'll contribute to BigQuery, a petabyte-scale data warehouse. Your responsibilities include writing and reviewing code, participating in design reviews, contributing to documentation, and resolving system issues. You'll work on enabling seamless joins between BigQuery and external data sources. The role requires experience with software development (Java, C++, Go), data structures, algorithms, data privacy/security, and SQL. You'll collaborate with stakeholders and contribute to critical Google projects, with opportunities for growth and project switching.

Must have:

Software development (Java, C++, Go)
Data structures and algorithms
Data privacy/security experience
SQL and database experience
BigQuery experience (preferred)

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in CS
Experience with accessible technologies
Data warehousing, query processing

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
2 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g. identity and access management).
Experience in software development in Java, C++, or Go.
Experience with SQL and databases.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
Experience developing accessible technologies.
Experience with Data Warehousing, Query Processing, and BigQuery.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
