Job Description

As a Software Engineer in XR iOS at Google, you'll build XR capabilities and experiences for iPhones and next-generation wearables. This includes developing APIs and SDKs, mobile app logic and UI, server integration, and testing infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams (UX, Product Management, Program Management) to design, prototype, and launch user experiences and developer APIs that bring Google's unique XR capabilities to iOS. Responsibilities include adapting, building, and launching first-party XR experiences, designing cross-platform XR APIs and SDKs, ensuring unity between Google's XR offerings across platforms, and ensuring native iOS feel for XR support. You'll also work closely with UX and Product Management to define, prototype, and test experiences to optimize user value.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years software development experience (or 1 year with advanced degree)
  • Objective-C programming experience
  • Swift programming experience
  • C++ software development experience
  • Building XR experiences for iPhones
  • Designing and launching cross-platform APIs and SDKs
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in Computer Science
  • Experience with iOS mobile app development, SwiftUI/UIKit, CoreBluetooth, networking, or media streaming
  • Experience with geometric models and 3D coordinate systems
  • Experience with computer vision or augmented reality
  • C/C++ experience

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • Experience programming in the Objective-C language.
  • Experience with the Swift programming language.
  • Experience developing software applications using the C++ programming language.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience working with two or more from the following: iOS mobile application development, SwiftUI/UIKit, CoreBluetooth, networking or media streaming.
  • Experience with geometric models and 3D coordinate systems.
  • Experience with computer vision or augmented reality.
  • Experience in C/C++.

The Extended Reality (XR) team's mission is to give people superhuman abilities by making information instantly and intuitively accessible. In XR iOS, we bring Google’s unique XR capabilities to iPhone users and developers.

As a Software Engineer in XR iOS, you will build XR capabilities and experiences for iPhones and next-generation wearables, including APIs and SDKs, mobile app logic and UI, server integration, communication infrastructure and protocols, and testing infrastructure. Working closely with other engineers across XR and in cross-functional teams (including UX, Product Management and Program Management), you will design, prototype, and launch user experiences and developer APIs that bring Google’s unique XR capabilities to the iOS platform.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Adapt, build, and launch first-party XR experiences for iPhones paired with next-generation wearables.
  • Design, build and launch cross-platform XR APIs and SDKs.
  • Ensure unity between Google’s XR offerings on iOS and other platforms.
  • Ensure XR support for iOS feels native to the platform.
  • Work closely with UX and Product Management to define, prototype and test experiences to discover what experiences users value the most and how to improve the experiences to provide more value to users.
