Job Description

Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its Gemini team. This role involves technical leadership on projects, coaching engineers, managing project timelines and deliverables, and developing software solutions for a conversational AI tool. Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software for Gemini, a tool that helps users collaborate with generative AI to augment their imagination, expand curiosity, and enhance productivity. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in software development, testing, and architecture, along with strong leadership and communication skills.

Must have:

8+ years software development experience
Data structures/algorithms expertise
5+ years testing and launching software
3+ years software design & architecture
Technical leadership & project management

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in relevant field
3+ years technical leadership role
Cross-functional project experience

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
