The Supplier Quality Engineer (EMEA) at Microsoft drives mechanical equipment supplier quality improvements, supports supplier selection, and conducts audits. Responsibilities include leading part qualification processes, assessing equipment quality and manufacturing processes, addressing non-conformances, performing root cause analysis, and providing technical support. This role involves partnering with various teams to identify quality performance gaps and implement corrective actions. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field and experience in manufacturing environments, ideally with data center operations or mission-critical equipment knowledge.

The CO+I Supply Chain Quality team is seeking an energetic and innovative Supplier Quality Engineer with a passion for problem solving, process improvements, helping others, technology, and manufacturing operations. You would join a team that works to ensure the delivery of high-quality, compliant equipment through active collaboration with suppliers at their factory and quality engineers across regions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

 

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, Supply Chain/Operations Management, or related field OR equivalent experience.  

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND related technical engineering experience 
  • OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND related technical engineering experience
  • OR equivalent experience in Quality, Manufacturing, process improvement or related experience in electrical system equipment such as Generators, Thermal management (AHU/CDU), fabrications, mechanical systems, machining, etc.

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND solid technical engineering experience 
  • OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND solid technical engineering experience 
  • OR Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, or related field 
  • OR equivalent experience. 
  • Experience with data center operations, EPC, or mission critical equipment 
  • Experience in manufacturing environments, reviewing technical specifications 
  • Lean 6 Sigma Greenbelt / Gemba experience. 
  • ASQ Certification.  

 

 

Background Checks Requirements 

 

These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

 

  • Drives mechanical equipment supplier quality improvement initiatives, supports supplier selection for the region and conducts supplier audits
  • Leads part qualification processes through implementation of product quality plans, equipment inspections, factory witness testing, and manufacturing process qualifications.
  • Assesses equipment quality and manufacturing processes to ensure suppliers meet Microsoft capabilities and requirements, address non-conformances, mitigate escaping defects that may impact sites, and develop critical supplier engagement strategies to proactively address gaps.
  • Performs root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Provides technical support and guidance for improving equipment reliability
  • Partners with supply chain, engineering, construction, and vendors to identify equipment quality performance gaps, testing protocols, and implementing corrective actions at suppliers.
