The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Administrative Services is recruiting for a Systems Programmer 1/2 Flex located in Juneau!What you will be doing: Are you a tech-savvy problem solver with leadership skills? The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADFG), Division of Administrative Services, is looking for a Help Desk Supervisor to lead our dynamic team and ensure top-notch technical support for our organization.Lead and motivate a help desk team of six to provide exceptional support to ADFG end-users statewide.Prioritize and assign tickets, using ServiceNow, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.Monitor performance metrics and implement process improvements.Collaborate with cross-functional teams within ADFG and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to enhance IT services.Develop training programs to keep staff updated on department, state, and industry policies and best practices.Our organization, mission, and culture: The Division of Administrative Services (DAS) provides efficient, cost effective and customer-oriented administrative services to support the ADFG mission of scientific integrity and sustainable fish and wildlife management. The successful candidate will supervise a team of help desk technicians and can expect to interact with other ADFG staff, IT contractors, and OIT staff regularly using all available platforms.We offer flexibility and value work-life balance: A hybrid telework schedule may be an option once initial training is complete provided onsite coverage is scheduled.We offer a flex time arrangement, which allows you to earn additional leave time during heavy workload times.We'll work with you on schedule adjustments for special situations.Training opportunities will be available.Who we are looking for: We are looking for someone with the following competencies: Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.Customer Service: Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Systems Programmer 1Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in: Hardware: Knowledge of specifications, uses, and types of computer or computer-related equipment.Infrastructure Design: Knowledge of the architecture and typology of software, hardware, and networks, including LANS, WANS, and telecommunications systems, their components and associated protocols and standards, and how they operate and integrate with one another and with associated controlling software. Operating Systems: Knowledge of computer network, desktop, and mainframe operating systems and their applications.Systems Integration: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information systems components. Equivalent to those typically gained by: Training in computer science, information technology, or system administration – or a similar field or professional experience – that provided knowledge of systems, networking software, hardware, protocols, and scripting/automation tools. Special Note: “Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation. “Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job. “Training” means the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom, on-line, self-study, and on-the-job), from accredited and unaccredited sources, and long-duration (such as a post-secondary degree) and short-duration (such as a seminar) programs. “Professional experience” means work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to one's own judgment.
