Job Description

The Threat Analyst will monitor and detect intrusion/incidents using customer data and tools. They will analyze, document, and report on potential security incidents, work with partners on threats, and triage various security technologies. They will utilize SOPs and work closely with Senior Threat Analysts to provide Managed Detection and Response. The role involves troubleshooting, communication, and prioritizing work, with rotational shifts and on-call support as needed.
Must have:
  • 2-3+ years of experience in Information Security.
  • 2+ years investigating enterprise networks and systems.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of security architectures/devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
Good to have:
  • Experience with SIEM platforms (QRadar, etc.).
  • Understanding of Windows security and Active Directory.
  • Experience with commercial AV solutions (Carbon Black, etc.).
  • Ability to identify false positives.
  • Knowledge of Malware and attack vectors.
  • Experience with incident ticketing systems.

Job Details

The Threat Analyst will provide intrusion/incident monitoring and detection utilizing customer provided data sources, audit and monitoring tools at enterprise level. A Threat Analyst is required to be flexible and adapt to change quickly. Threat Analyst will work closely with our Senior Threat Analyst to service customers through our Managed Detection and Response offering.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Analyze, document and report on potential security incidents identified in customer environments.
  • Work with partners to maintain an understanding of security threats, vulnerabilities, and exploits that could impact systems, networks, and assets.
  • Provide triage on various security enforcement technologies including, but not limited to SIEM, anti-virus, content filtering/reporting, malware prevention, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, web application firewalls, messaging security platforms, vulnerability scanners etc.
  • Triage client’s issues regarding mitigation of identified threats
  • Utilize defined SOPs.

What we’re looking for

  • 2-3+ years full-time professional experience in the Information Security field.
  • 2 or more years investigating and or troubleshooting enterprise level networks and systems
  • Excellent time management, reporting, communication skills, and ability to prioritize work
  • Write professional emails, Customer interactions and working through various issues.
  • Base knowledge of contemporary security architectures/devices such as firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, remote access technologies, anti-malware, SIEM, and AV.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems and ask probing questions to find the root cause.
  • Queue management
  • Experience with SIEM platforms preferred (QRadar, LogRhythm, Exabeam, Securonix, and Splunk)
  • Attack vectors and exploitation.
  • Understand the foundations of enterprise Windows security. including, Active directory.
  • Experience in monitoring at least one commercial AV solution such as (but not limited to) Carbon Black, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, or Trend Micro.
  • Ability to identify common false positives and make suggestions on tuning
  • Malware, Malware Propagation and attack vectors.
  • Network Based Attacks / System Based Attacks, like DOS and Brute force attacks.
  • Basic understanding of vulnerability assessment tools such as vulnerability scanners and exploitation frameworks
  • Shift flexibility, including the ability to provide on-call support when needed.
  • Ability and willingness to work in rotational shifts (24/7).
  • Experience working with Incident Ticketing Systems (i.e. ServiceNow, Remedy, RemedyForce, Heat, etc.).
  • General security knowledge (certifications if any) CCNA, CCDA, CCSA, CCIE, CISSP, CEH, or MCSE
