Job Description

As a Cloud Technical Solutions Engineer, Storage at Google Cloud, you'll provide 24/7 support to help customers seamlessly transition to Google Cloud. You will troubleshoot technical problems, debug, manage networking, administer systems, update documentation, and code/script when needed. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, act as a consultant, and advocate for customer needs to improve products and processes. Responsibilities include understanding Google's product technology, acting as a subject matter expert, working in a global support team, and managing customer issues through diagnosis and resolution. You'll also contribute to improving the product, tools, processes, and documentation, ultimately driving the success of Google Cloud. This role may require working non-standard hours.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years coding experience (Java, C++, Python, etc.)
  • 2+ years troubleshooting and customer advocacy
  • Deep understanding of Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with storage solutions
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Good to have:
  • CCNP, CCIE, CKA, RHCE certifications
  • Experience with web tech, data/big data, networking, Kubernetes
  • Technical consulting experience with large enterprise customers
  • Experience with Open Source software, cloud networking solutions, distributed computing
  • Knowledge of virtual/container networking

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience reading code in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go, JavaScript) or in system design.
  • 2 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational, process).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in CCNP, CCIE, CKA, RHCE etc.
  • 2 years of experience with 2 or more of the following (e.g.,Web Tech, Storage, Data/Big Data, Systems Admin, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, SAP).
  • Experience in technical consulting on supporting large enterprise customers with high service-level objective and service-level agreement requirements.
  • Experience with any of these cloud solutions: Open source software communities, Cloud networking solutions, distributed-computing technology, Hybrid/Multi Cloud connectivity etc.
  • Experience with cloud computing (e.g.,certifications, internships, coursework, etc.).
  • Knowledge of virtual/container networking.

As a Technical Solutions Engineer you will be a part of a global team that provides 24x7 support to help customers seamlessly make the switch to Google Cloud. When customers cannot resolve issues themselves, your job will be to ensure that we have the necessary tools, processes, and needed technical knowledge to resolve the issue.

In this role, you will troubleshoot technical problems for customers with a mix of debugging, networking, system administration, updating documentation, and when needed, coding/scripting. You will make our products easier to adopt and use by making improvements to the product, tools, processes, and documentation. You will help drive the success of Google Cloud by understanding and advocating for our customers issues. This will include a need to sometimes work non-standard work hours or shifts (nights, weekends, and holidays).

Responsibilities

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of Google's product technology and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, and determining the root cause for customer reported issues, and building tools for diagnosis.
  • Act as a consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, business, and customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
  • Work as part of a team of engineers/consultants that globally ensure 24 hour customer support.
  • Understand customer issues and advocate for their needs with cross-functional teams, including product and engineering teams, to find ways to improve the product, and drive high-quality production.
  • Manage customer issues through effective diagnosis, resolution, or implementation of new investigation tools to increase productivity for customer issues on Google Cloud Platform products.
