Job Description

The Consumables Manufacturing Associate will be responsible for the manufacture and quality control of reagents and consumable products. This includes formulation, dispensing, labeling, and chip assembly. The role involves manufacturing and assessing the quality of consumable products, suggesting improvements to production plans and work instructions, tracking production metrics, and ensuring the laboratory is organized. Additionally, it includes performing quality checks, preparing reports, and maintaining equipment. The role requires a laboratory setting experience with best laboratory practices and techniques related to cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or chemistry research and also presentation of key findings to colleagues, team lead/line manager relating to process and quality. The role is within a company that propels scientific discovery and combats diseases.
Must have:
  • Experience in a laboratory setting with best practices and techniques
  • Measured and presented analytic data to colleagues and managers
  • Tested products for key characteristics (lability, viscosity, photosensitivity, stability)
  • Prepared and presented research data to a broader technical team
  • Higher qualification (BSc, MSc, PhD, or equivalent) in a relevant area of science

In this role you will be responsible for the manufacture and quality check all reagents and consumable products, including formulation, dispensing, labelling and chip assembly. 

Your Role at ONI:

    • Own manufacturing and quality assessment of consumable products from raw materials as directed by the Manufacturing Supervisor
    • Review and suggest improvements to the weekly production plan as set out by the Manufacturing Supervisor
    • Review and suggest improvements to the work instructions and manufacturing routing cards
    • Track key production metrics and compiling and presenting regular reports, with content and cadence specified by the Manufacturing Supervisor
    • Ensure the laboratory area is organised efficiently and all documentation related to production is filed appropriately, according to the laboratory work instructions
    • Ensure that any likely delays or issues are communicated to the appropriate Team Lead in a timely manner
    • Perform quality checks of raw materials, reagents, and finished products in accordance with work instructions, and suggesting improvements
    • Prepare and share quality metrics reports for consumable products, as determined by the Quality lead
    • Own equipment upkeep, calibration and maintenance by following standard operating procedures
    • Perform material and labour transactions in the Enterprise Resource Planning system, including opening and closing work orders and building assemblies on Netsuite
    • Implementing 5S principles and structured lab management practices ensures the lab remains organized, efficient, and well-maintained for day-to-day operations

Essential skills and Qualifications:

    • Worked in a laboratory setting using best laboratory practices and techniques related to cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or chemistry research 
    • Measured and compiled of analytic data and presented key findings to colleagues, team lead/line manager relating to process and quality
    • Tested products for key characteristics i.e. lability, viscosity, photosensitivity, stability
    • Prepared and presented research data to a broader technical team
    • Obtained a higher qualification (BSc, MSc, PhD, or equivalent) in a relevant area of science

Desired skills and Qualifications:

    • Worked in a laboratory research environment for fluorescence microscopy (in either academia or industry)
