The Data Analytics Customer Engineer at Google Cloud supports sales teams in pursuing business opportunities, engaging with clients to address data lifecycle aspects. This role involves working with business teams to identify needs, conduct technical discovery, and architect client solutions. Responsibilities include leading technical projects, technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, product demonstrations, proof-of-concept work, and coordinating resources. The engineer leverages GCP products for integrations, travels for meetings and onsite delivery, and presents Google Cloud's value proposition through various methods, including presentations and documentation. The role requires expertise in data warehousing, big data technologies, and cloud computing.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in CS or related field
  • 6+ years experience in technical sales engineering in cloud computing
  • Experience with Apache Spark and analytic warehouse solutions
  • Experience implementing analytics systems architecture
  • Support sales teams and engage customers
  • Lead technical projects and provide technical expertise
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in CS or related field
  • Experience developing data warehousing and ETL solutions
  • Experience with technical sales or consulting in cloud computing
  • Experience with coding languages (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Linux, web development, and networking technologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience as a technical sales engineer in a cloud computing environment or a customer-facing role.
  • Experience with Apache Spark and analytic warehouse solutions (e.g., Teradata, Netezza, Vertica, SQL-Server, and Big Data technologies).
  • Experience implementing analytics systems architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience developing data warehousing, data lakes, batch, or real-time event processing and ETL workflow solutions, including architecture design, implementing, tuning, schema design, query optimization of scalable and distributed systems.
  • Experience with technical sales or professional consulting in cloud computing, data, information life-cycle management, and Big Data.
  • Experience with coding languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C++, Scala, R, or Go).
  • Knowledge of Linux, Web 2.0 development platforms, solutions, and related technologies (e.g., HTTP, Basic/NTLM,sessions, XML/XSLT/XHTML/HTML).
  • Understanding of DNS, TCP, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, DMZ, Load Balancing, VPN, VPC.

Responsibilities

  • Support local Sales teams in pursuit of key business opportunities, engaging customers to address aspects of the data life-cycle.
  • Work with the Business teams, identify business and technical requirements, conduct full technical discovery, and architect client solutions to meet gathered requirements.
  • Lead technical projects, including technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the co-ordination of supporting technical resources.
  • Work with Google Cloud Platform products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer/partner environments. Travel as needed for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities.
  • Prepare and deliver product messaging in an effort to highlight the Google Cloud Platform value proposition, using techniques that include whiteboard and slide presentations, product demonstrations, white papers and Request For Information (RFI) response documents.
