Job Description

The Lead Solution Architect at Disney Experiences designs and implements scalable, strategic technical solutions aligning with organizational goals. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining architectural diagrams, applying heat maps to assess architectural decisions, creating executive briefs, managing Architecture Review Board assignments, and acting as a conduit between delivery teams and the broader organization. The role requires collaborating with stakeholders, providing technical guidance, continuously evaluating solutions, mentoring other architects, and serving as a subject matter expert on key systems. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, and deep technical expertise in system design and architecture.

We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney! 

This role sits in the Architecture Practices organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with engineering, product, and business partners across the company.

The Lead Solution Architect will report to the Manager of Architecture Practices.

About The Role & Team: 

This role is part of the Architecture team that drives the design and implementation of scalable, strategic, and technically sound solutions across the organization. The team partners with delivery, platform, and enterprise architecture groups to ensure technical excellence and alignment with business goals.

What You’ll Do:  

  • Design and implement technical solutions that align with the organization's strategic goals

  • Develop and maintain detailed L2 and L3 architectural diagrams to support project planning and execution

  • Apply heat maps to assess and visualize the impact of architectural decisions

  • Create Project Architecture Executive Briefs to inform and align stakeholders

  • Manage ARB (Architecture Review Board) assignments and ensure timely completion

  • Act as a conduit between delivery teams and the broader organization, facilitating effective communication and collaboration

  • Provide technical guidance and support to delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions

  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of architectural solutions, making adjustments as needed

  • Mentor and coach other architects on best practices, standards, and solution design approaches

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on key systems that support the business, providing deep technical insights and strategic guidance

Required Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 7 years of related work experience in solution architecture or similar technical leadership roles

  • Strong experience designing scalable systems and leading architectural efforts in complex environments

  • Expertise in creating and maintaining architectural documentation and visual models (e.g., Archimate Models and C4 Model Diagrams)

  • Proficiency with architectural frameworks and methodologies

  • Demonstrated experience providing mentorship to technical team members

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders

  • Experience applying heat maps, architecture reviews, and strategic alignment techniques

  • Deep understanding of one or more business-critical systems and platforms

  • Ability to evaluate and recommend new technologies based on organizational fit and value

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Familiarity with Disney Experiences lines of business and platforms

  • Experience with cloud-based architectures and modern application development practices (e.g., microservices, event-driven architecture)

  • Understanding of enterprise architecture disciplines and how they integrate with solution and technical architecture

Required Education: 

  • Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience 

Preferred Education: 

  • Master’s Degree in a related technical or business field
