Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers. Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams. Google Cloud Business Platforms (GCBP) is a product and engineering organization responsible for the applications and platforms that drive Cloud Marketing, Sales, Partner, Support, Finance, and other critical functions and help run the Google Cloud business. The team delivers solutions that enable growth. As the Manager of Google Cloud Business Platforms Production Support, you will develop team members into skilled troubleshooting experts and cross-functional leaders who will be able to diagnose a wide variety of issues within minutes and also treat each issue as an input for product innovation. You will develop the idea, goals, priorities, and work alongside the team to accomplish them, ensure high-quality customer service, enhance the operations, and develop the team's technical skills and instrumentation on an ongoing basis. Partner with Product Management and Engineering to advocate for customers with a data-driven approach. Break down customer issues into meaningful areas for innovation in the overall product, recognize trends in customer feedback, and escalate product problems and operational issues within Google. Establish a reliable and visible cadence for program reviews, decision-making, prioritization, and Resource Stewardship (effective deployment of machine and people resources). Define/manage a program portfolio solving problems that focus on high business impact for the organization and product area.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in Technical Program Management
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership role
  • 5 years of experience implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting Internet-based applications
  • Experience with managing hosted services/SaaS
  • Ability to analyze and trace product behavior back to the responsible code
  • Ability to interact with customer executives

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in Technical Program Management.
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership role with/without direct reports.
  • 5 years of experience implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting Internet-based applications, web servers, data storage, commerce engines, and Linux/Unix operating systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or MBA.
  • 5 years of experience with managing hosted services/SaaS.
  • Ability to analyze and trace product behavior back to the responsible code.
  • Ability to Interact with customer executives and resolve high-profile escalations and issues, improve the customer experience, and drive initiatives that increase the customer success on product suite.
